Dear Sir/Madam
I would hereby like to formally apply for the position of Goldfish at Blonde Digital. I have excellent experience in this field, having been a goldfish for all my life (4 months now).
Having never had an agency position before, this would be my “fin in the door” as they say, and so I would not expect the full salary stated (£1.49). I would be prepared to accept anything over £1.06.
CV not attached, as I have no opposable thumbs.

Thank you for your letter and your enterprising approach to our apparent vacancy for a goldfish.
However, following the sad demise of Flippy, we are taking the opportunity to review departmental structures and it is likely that the consequent streamlining will result in us taking a less aquatic approach in the future.
